Oral cancer is most treatable when it is found early, yet it often develops without obvious symptoms. That is why Dr. Chaw includes an oral cancer screening as a routine part of your comprehensive exam.
The screening is quick and comfortable. Finding changes early supports better outcomes, which is why we make it a standard part of your preventive care.
What we look for
Dr. Chaw visually examines and gently feels the soft tissues of your mouth, throat, and neck, looking for:
- Sores that do not heal within two weeks
- Red or white patches in the mouth
- Unusual lumps or thickening of tissue
- Persistent soreness or difficulty swallowing
Know your risk factors
Tobacco and heavy alcohol use, sun exposure to the lips, and certain HPV strains can increase risk, but oral cancer can affect anyone. Routine screening is the simplest way to stay ahead of it. If we ever find something that needs a closer look, we will guide you to the right specialist promptly.
