Tooth-Colored Fillings in Fair Oaks

Repair cavities with durable, natural-looking composite fillings.

A filling restores a tooth damaged by decay, returning it to its normal shape, function, and strength. At Fair Oaks Village Dental we use tooth-colored composite fillings that bond directly to the tooth and blend in beautifully, so no one can tell you have had work done.

Treating a cavity early, while it is small, helps you avoid more involved care later such as a crown or root canal. If you notice sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweets, or a rough spot on a tooth, it is worth having it checked.

What to expect when you get a filling

Most fillings are completed comfortably in a single visit. Dr. Chaw gently numbs the area, removes the decay, and cleans the tooth. He then places the composite material in layers, shapes it to match your bite, and hardens it with a curing light. A final polish leaves the tooth smooth and natural.

Your comfort is our priority at every step. We take the time to ensure the area is fully numb before we begin, and we check your bite carefully so the tooth feels right when you leave.

Replacing old or failing fillings

Older silver amalgam fillings can crack, leak, or darken the surrounding tooth over time. If an old filling is failing or you would prefer a more natural look, we can replace it with a bonded, tooth-colored restoration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do tooth-colored fillings last?

With good home care and regular checkups, composite fillings commonly last many years. Their lifespan depends on the size of the filling, where it is in the mouth, and habits like grinding.

Will my filling match my tooth?

Yes. We shade-match the composite to your surrounding teeth so the filling is virtually invisible.

Is it normal for a tooth to be sensitive after a filling?

Mild sensitivity to temperature for a few days is normal and usually fades. If sensitivity is strong or lasts more than a week or two, give us a call so we can check your bite.
